Spring 2023

So Excited - SPRING arrives today! Monday afternoon 3/20.at 5:24pm  As a gardener, it is the best time of year when everything wakes up.  Today is the Spring Equinox 2023! This is fantastic.  It is off to a wonderful beginning.   my seedlings are doing great and my peas will be planted soon.

These beach glass rings are from Lake Ontario which is less than a half hour drive form my house.  I enjoy looking of the glass and seeing what the glass becomes.  .  hat better way to think about the new season tan to remember outside warmth of walking on the beach barefoot.

Hello 2023

Hello 2023 and goodbye 2022.  Welcome to February 2023. Hello 2023, so Happy to be here.
A few things to ponder:

How as Americans can we do better than last year?

How do you change last years routine to make this year different?

Do you set goals for the year or the month?

Family

As I start this second month, I fondly remember my family.  My father and his mother have birthdays in February.  Dad's birthday is today and his mom's is next Saturday.  I had the tremendous pleasure of extended time with family this fall.  It was priceless and memorable.

This cutie is me held by my father with his father on the left of the picture.  Obviously,  is an older photograph printed on paper and aged naturally.  Sadly, we lost my father to cancer when I was a teenager.  Cancer Sucks.

The pic was taken in my grandparents living room.  I do not remember this day.  oh the memories in that room...... Inside the doorway behind them is where the books to read were kept.

I believe in supporting my local community. As an ally I know we need to listen and show up to support local groups. Stand up and join local events, organizations and / or protests and learn about what is going on in your city.

My heart feels broken with the senseless racism and bigotry I have seen so far this year.  We  must do better as Americans.

July Fruit Season in here

his is most of  one of the 4 quarts of raspberries so far this month.  Yes this month.  Happy chef here will have homemade raspberry jam from my own garden?!

The warm summer of July has arrived and the heat with it.  We almost set a record low last week at 49 and it was 90 yesterday. Our gardens are doing well with the soaker hoses to keep them moist.
There is a partial drought with us two inches below normal at this point.

Hope we have some good rain in the near future so we do not have to use the faucet so much.

We finished the pond remodel.  Relined and moved some of the water and landscape plants. As you see the waterfall is larger  and has a nice stone wall on the sides.  It was a big  & labor intensive project.

Happy to be finished and able to enjoy the sounds of it ans the backyard habitat it creates.  We have seen up to four birds in the bird bath at the top of it at one time.

The first yellow beans of the season were harvested Sunday.  Happy dance for me one of my favorite veggies.
